Golf Girona was inaugurated in 1992. Thanks to its geographical location, Golf Girona enjoys a privileged position being only 4 kilometres from the centre of Girona, less than an hour's drive from Barcelona (the course is 800 metres from AP7 motorway), one hour from the Pyrenees, half an hour from France and half an hour from the main towns of the Costa Brava and Empordà.

Its one of the closest golf courses to Girona Airport, which connects with more than 30 different cities among Europe, being 9 of them in the British Islands.

The grounds in which Golf Girona is located are completely isolated from the urban life of Girona, resting as they do between valleys and hills with views of the foothills of the Gavarres mountains.

These hills not only isolate the course from city life, but also form a perfect windbreak on windy days.

The Clubhouse, covers over 3,000 m², is built with natural stone and glass. The restaurant and snack bar serve exquisite Mediterranean food.

The course was designed by the prestigious architect, F.G. Hawtree, and he himself describes it as "one of my finest creations". The quality of the design is matched by the care taken in its maintenance, being the only course in Spain that has been seeded with "Pencross”.

The course takes full advantage of the topography and the natural shaping of the terrain, the result: an elegant and pleasing golf course but at the same time challenging for golfers of all levels.

The course consists of 18 holes, par 72, and covers a distance of 6,100 metres.

The relative newness of this course and the commercial policy of Golf Girona means that there is a reduced number of members so that the visitor can enjoy a wide availability of tee times at any time of the year and any day of the week.

The practice area, recently renewed, consists of a practice area with 42 mats, a putting green, a practice bunker, plus a covered practice area, all lighted, which makes it ideal for learning or perfecting your golfing skills, even when the days are short.

Air: Prat International Airport (Barcelona) within an hour and a quarter; Girona-Costa Brava International Airport, 15 minutes; Perpignan International Airport, 40 minutes.

Road: The AP7 motorway connects Barcelona and Girona Airport to the city of Girona, travelling the length of the Costa Brava until it joins the A9 motorway in France which in turn joins the main European motorways.

Train: From the Railway Station at Girona it is possible to travel to the main capitals of Southern and Central Europe. In 2010 is expected to have in Girona the TGV.

At present, there are nine other golf courses within 25/40 minutes' drive of Golf Girona.
